 The Office of Program Development
Distinguished Lecture Series

On the Syracuse University campus located on the second floor of the Women's building, you'll find an office dedicated to alumni, students, and faculty who share a common bond. This office primarily caters to the african american and latino alumni but its impact is felt throughout the campus, community, the nation, and international countries.

The Office of Program Development is headed by Associate Vice President Larry Martin. The staff is small, but from their outreach stems a list of powerful events. These events are produced and managed by the following staff members:

      • Evelyn Walker, Sr. Director Development/Alumni Relations
      • Angela Morales-Patterson, Manager of Alumni Programs
      • Stella R. Adegite '09 (work study)

THE CAMPAIGN FOR SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY

Our Journey to South Africa

The Journey for 130 SU alumni comes to an end. We all look forward to hearing from our fellow alums. How was it? What did you see and do? Show us how being together, as people with common backgrounds, makes a journey like this so special.

The Syracuse Manuscript

Most of us received the Syracuse Manuscript several weeks ago. If you do not normally receive a hard copy of this publication from the SU Office of Program Development, you may get on the mailing list by sending an email request to pdevelop@syr.edu. If you want a link to the Syracuse Manuscript, click here. Also, one is posted in the Virtual Office.

Our Time Has Come Scholarship Campaign

In 1987, the office announced the Our Time Has Come (OTHC) Scholarship Campaign to raise $1 million to establish endowed scholarships primarily for African American and Latino students. At its conclusion, under the leadership of chairperson David Bing '66, the campaign had raised $1.2 million. Through the generosity of alumni, friends, foundations, and corporations, seven endowed scholarships were established.

On November 6, 1996, a new five-year campaign was officially launched. The goal of the Our Time Has Come Scholarship Campaign, Phase II was to raise an additional $2.2 million. Phase II was part of Syracuse University's $300 million Commitment to Learning Campaign. At the conclusion of the campaign on December 31, 2000, $3.1 million dollars was raised in donations and pledges.

To date, 845 scholarships worth approximately 1.96 million dollars have been awarded. For academic year 2007-08, 80 scholarships were awarded to 60 recipients.
